- Overview
MOZ Education Ltd. ensures that all summative assessments align with the criteria stipulated by the respective awarding bodies. Our commitment lies in assessing students with fairness, accuracy, and consistency. To guarantee the validity of assessment decisions and adherence to external standards, the College has implemented an internal quality monitoring system encompassing validation, approval, and verification processes. - Scope
2.1 Summative assessment encompasses activities that contribute to students’ attainment of their qualifications.
2.2 This can involve various methods such as written assignments, observing activities, verbal questioning, or the creation of a final project. - Key Principles
3.1 Ensuring the integrity of our assessment methods, we commit to their validity, reliability, practicality, fairness, and equity.
3.2 Teaching staff will remain well-informed about the awarding body’s requirements for the summative assessment of the award.
3.3 Embracing modern methods, assessments may include e-assessment formats and all the assessments will be submitted on designated Turnitin links which will showcase the similarity percentage and authenticity of the author.
3.4 To empower students, detailed information regarding assessment dates and methods will be provided at least 1 month in advance, allowing ample preparation time.
3.5 Students can expect written feedback within 21 working days post summative assessment, facilitated by the lecturer/assessor. Extensions may be considered, subject to discussion with the student, lecturer/assessor, and pending internal and/or external verification.
3.6 Recognising diverse needs, alternative assessment arrangements will be made available for students with identified additional support requirements.
3.7 Addressing exceptional circumstances hindering a student’s assessment performance, appropriate actions will be determined in compliance with awarding body regulations.
3.8 Rigorous planning, validation, approvals, and verification processes ensure that all assessments and associated instruments meet high-quality standards.
3.9 Storage of assessment instruments must adhere to strict security protocols. Any breaches in this security must be promptly reported to the awarding bodies by the College.
3.10 Timely and accurate recording of assessment results is imperative.
3.11 Disposal of assessed work must align with the regulations set by the awarding body. The return of student work is permissible only when it doesn’t compromise the integrity (validity and reliability) of the assessment instrument.
3.12 Students have the right to appeal internal assessment decisions first to the College and, ultimately, to the awarding body. External assessment decisions can be appealed directly to the awarding body. In the case of regulated qualifications, an additional level of appeal is available to the regulator.
- Responsibilities
4.1 Every staff member is accountable for upholding the Assessment Policy and Procedure.
4.2 Staff members engaged in student assessments must securely store assessment instruments and preserve evidence in a location accessible only to authorised personnel.
4.3 Those assessing students are required to comply with the assessment conditions and requirements set by both the MOZ Education Ltd. and the awarding body.
4.4 Internal Verifiers must ensure that assessors meet the prescribed assessment conditions, requirements, and standards established by MOZ Education Ltd. and the awarding body.
4.5 Assistant Principals bear the responsibility of ensuring adherence to quality assurance and assessment procedures.
4.6 The Quality Team is tasked with supporting and monitoring assessment and quality assurance procedures within MOZ Education Ltd.
4.7 Staff members conducting student assessments must accurately record results within specified timelines.
4.8 The Quality Assurance Coordinator is accountable for accessing secure websites provided by the awarding body, containing assessment resources, and promptly reporting any breaches in security.
- Malpractice
5.1 MOZ Education Ltd. is committed to maintaining the integrity and validity of assessments conducted on behalf of major awarding bodies.
5.2 All staff involved in assessments must be aware of and adhere to the malpractice policy. Staff must promptly report any suspicion or observation of malpractice to the designated authority.
5.3. Students must understand and follow the guidelines provided for assessments. Any concerns or potential malpractice observed by students should be reported to the relevant staff.
5.4 Malpractice involves copying or using someone else’s work without proper acknowledgment, unauthorised collaboration on assessments, allowing someone else to assume one’s identity for an assessment and any other action that compromises the fairness or validity of assessments.
5.5 Regular training sessions for staff and students on ethical behaviour and consequences of malpractice.
5.6 Implementation of secure assessment procedures to minimise opportunities for malpractice.
5.7 Any suspected malpractice will be thoroughly investigated by an appointed committee.
5.8. Investigations will be conducted impartially, ensuring the right to a fair hearing for all parties involved.
5.9 Penalties for malpractice may include, but are not limited to, disqualification from assessments, course termination, or legal action.
5.10 Instances of malpractice will be reported to the relevant awarding bodies as required by their regulations.5.11 Individuals found guilty of malpractice have the right to appeal. The appeals process will be fair, transparent, and conducted by an independent body.
5.12 This policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure its effectiveness and relevance.
5.13 Any necessary updates will be communicated to staff and students promptly. - Documents
